1. How do you approach prioritizing technical debt versus new features?

I maintain a technical debt backlog with severity ratings and allocate a consistent percentage of sprint capacity (15-20%) to addressing it. For critical issues that could lead to system failure or security vulnerabilities, I'll advocate for immediate prioritization. I've found that communicating the business impact of technical debt in terms of future velocity gains or risk reduction helps get stakeholder buy-in. At my previous company, this approach allowed us to reduce our incident rate by 40% while still delivering key features on time."

Mediocre Response: "I try to balance technical debt and new features by understanding the business priorities and technical needs.
